How Should I Look As An Athlete?

I want to make something very clear. Your body is your body. Everyone's strong is going to look different. Contrary to popular belief there is no gold standard on how an athlete should look.

We are bombarded with pictures of what we are told a “perfect” body, a perfect athlete should look like. But let me ask you this. These bodies you see, the ones you think look “perfect,” are these bodies yours? Seems like a dumb question right? Of course they’re not! They are someone else’s with different muscle mass, different metabolism, different bone structure, different height, different everything!

Look at professional athletes. Now, keep in mind, these women and sometimes girls have endless resources. They have trainers, nutritionists, physical therapists, and so much more. They are undoubtedly at the peak of their physical fitness. The point I want to make is that they all look very, very different. Simone Biles looks very different than Allison Felix. Serena Williams looks very different than Paige Bueckers. Different people, different strengths, different bodies, different sports but they are all at the top of their game..

So rather than focusing on how you look focus on how you feel and how you perform. Do you feel strong? Are you injury free? Are you getting through practice with energy. Are you progressing as an athlete? Do you feel confident in your training? The answers to these questions have nothing to do with how you look.
